Inspiration: The Artistry of Photographer Thomas Devaux

Recently a great deal of fine art has caught my attention. I've developed an appreciation for oil and acrylic paintings of various subjects that wouldn't have received a blink from me in the past. There is something magical about colors and textures meshing together to create one figure. Sometimes life even looks like one big oil painting doesn't it? Here is my latest purchase:

Acrylic painting by artist Cyril Gardner from the 1960s

French photographer, Thomas Devaux has captured my eye in the very same way. I am in love with his breathtaking body of work, which he refers to as Technically Mysterious". His technique makes it difficult to label Devaux. Is he an artist? A Photographer? A visionary genius? Here are some selects from his portfolio.

My Life: Behind the Scenes all Pretty in Pink

I recently had the pleasure of working with some of my favorite ladies on a beautiful editorial shoot. Photographer Caitlin Bellah shot our gorgeous models, Dani and Alli from Photogenics. Makeup expert Leibi Carias and hair extraordinaire Sienree Du transformed them both into starry-eyed antique dolls. I adorned the ladies in the prettiest of Pink.

This shoot meshed my first two loves magically. Gorgeous antique furniture rented for the shoot perfectly complemented the day's looks. Once the tufted Pink sofa, perfectly aged 19th century iron bed, Red turn of the century chair, and other pieces arrived I knew this would be one of the year's best shoots!

Here are a few behind-the-scenes photos:

My life: Fun with FOAM Magazine

I recently began working with LA's great magazine, FOAM. I love FOAM's aesthetic and direction and and happy to be a part of their current growth.

We recently shot a fun, flirty end-of-summer story for their Aug/Sep issue. I wish I had behind the scenes images to share but I do not (darn Blackberry camera!!). I will be sure to share when the issue comes out.

Up next is a series of modern, sleek pages for the Fall Fashion issue due out in October. I WILL share behind-the-scenes shots from our shoot this Friday. I'll be featuring so many great fall pieces from some of my favorite lines :)

This shoot for AT&T was an amazing experience. Ricky is a talented, visionary, humble artist and human being and I became even more of a fan after this production. Plus we shot along the Ventura coast on a gorgeous day. What more could I ask for in a days work :)?

My Life: Executing the vision behind the scenes

Within the last two weeks I've had the pleasure of styling actress Tatyana Ali and actor Brian White along with his wife, Paula. Both shoots went exactly as planned while also taking on a life of their own (if that makes sense :) Tatyana Ali is as gorgeous as she's ever been. I styled her in an array (8 to be exact) of dresses showcasing all of her different sides. From short and chic to long and ethereal to playful and funky, each look uniquely complemented Tatyana's amazing personality.
I also styled actor Brian White and his wife, Paula, for a sexy, powerful spread for Obvious Magazine. The duo showcased looks separately and together that said "Make room for the Whites because they're destined to take over". Both were such a pleasure to work with.
