LIFE: D-Mode Editorial Shoot

There's a reason I've been gone for 11 days. I've been SO busy! With pulling, returning, shooting, living, reviewing, reading, typing etc. I've barely had time to do some of the things I most enjoy; ie: thrift shopping, searching for new designers. Anyhow, I'm back... for a little while... and thought I'd share these pics from my last shoot for D-Mode Magazine. Beyond-talented photographer Andrew Kuykendall shot stunning natural beauty, Katrina Hunter, from LA Models. Daniel Chinchilla did the honors of make-up and hair.

This was my first time working with Katrina and I have to say I'm blown away by her. This new look of hers is so new that I think we may have shot one of the first stories to feature it. Katrina is a true chameleon. She went from long sleek Black hair to this amazing Platinum Blonde cut without blinking. It's so natural on her it's like she was born this way! Check out some of her past work below and you'll see what I'm talking about.

DESIGN: CERRE SS10 Film Presentation

During LA Fashion... month... I had the pleasure of attending the SS10 Collection video presentation for label Cerre. I am a fan of Cerre's pretty airy aesthetic which carries an intimidating edge with its subtle use of leather. The presentation was held at Cerre's Flagship store in Hollywood where they also sell stunning vintage pieces.

STYLE: DIY FRINGE

I really can't take too much credit for this DIY "project". It only took scissors and a steady hand. I knew this dress was special when I bought it from the thrift store for $5.

In about 1 minute I cut it into a perfect cooler weather (it's non-breathable polyester underneath) fringe top and was really pleased with the results. Of course I've salvaged the remains to do something great with!

DESIGN: Maura Mullally- Not your avarage thesis project

I recently stumbled upon design grad Maura Mullally. This is her thesis collection... Needless to say, her talent has no limits and if this is her thesis collection I cannot wait to see what comes next! I may be snagging one of Maura's pieces very soon for a future editorial shoot. I'm sure the results will be stunning.

LIFE: Editorial: Little Miss Dress Up in Obvious Magazine

Please visit Obvious Magazine to check out my latest cover and editorial, Little Miss Dress up. Styled in Fall 09 pieces from Carmelita Couture, Costume Dept and Mike Vensel among others, model Victoria Rodriguez really brought it. Photographer Jerris Madison captured an adorable story.

LIFE + INSPIRATION: Weekly words: Still reading Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth

Life really has a way of slowing you down, when needed, and of reminding you of what's really important. This is what has happened to me in the past two weeks, explaining why I've been shabby on the posts. In the last two weeks, I've renewed my love for seniors, my elders who know so much more than I probably ever will. Along with this, I've been reminded of what happiness really means.

This brings me to this week's weekly words (which we'll just apply to the last 2 weeks also :)

"How to be at peace now? By Making peace with the present moment.... Once you have made peace with the present moment, see what happens, what you can do or choose to do, or rather what life does through you. There are three words that convey the secret of the art of living... One With Life. Being one with life is being one with Now. You the realize that you don't live your life, but life lives you. Life is the dancer, and you are the dance."
- Eckart Tolle, A New Earth from chapter four:
Role-Playing: The Many Faces of the Ego

.... BEAUTIFULLY stated I think....

Also, a good friend let me borrow her Netflix copy of Young At Heart and I fell in love! This documentary follows a traveling Rock/Pop cover band who's members average 80 years old! It's worth checking out and was right on time for me.
