LIFE: Friends and Food... That's what it's all about right?... And 2 of my favorite veggie dishes

The other night I did one of my favorite things. I enjoyed a healthy, flavorful meal and drinks with my husband and friends. I've been a vegetarian for over 5 years and eating and creating delicious vegetarian dishes has turned into a hobby. The creating part has turned into an enjoyable competition with carnivorous eating to prove that meat-free (and dairy-free if possible) dishes are even more enjoyable than all the steaks, hamburgers, and fried chicken I've ever eaten.

The night was potluck style so I brought this AMAZING collared green salad:

- chopped collared greens
- chopped Red or Yellow bell peppers
- chopped green onions
- Olive oil
- tamari
- lemon juice
- cayenne pepper
- optional teaspoon of Agave sweetener

This was what was left at the end of the night...

My plate was full with collared green salad, home made corn bread,

brown and wild rice, and the best green beans I've ever had (flavored

with onions, ginger, soy sauce, agave, and love)

After a long night... We started with 5 bottles....

I also wanted to share another one of my favorite dishes that I JUST created 2 days ago!

Have you ever dreamt up a dish (flavor, color, smell and all) and then created it perfectly? I envisioned a spicy, rustic, deep Red, tomato-y, did I mention spicy? dish with chunky veggies. I created it like I had been making it for years :)

Spicy rustic tomato-y veggie stew. I'm not a chef so I honestly can't tell you how much of each ingredient to use:

- 1 regular size can of tomato sauce

- lots of paprika and ground sage

- olive oil

- finely chopped or food processed onions, garlic, and cilantro

- 1 large jalapeno pepper cut in half

- 2 small habanero peppers cut in half

- 2 large Anaheim chilies

- 2 large pasilla peppers

- vegetables of your choice (I chose zucchini and cauliflower)

- served with optional rice

~ heat about 4 table spoons of olive oil in a pan and pour in the paprika and sage. Mix. This will create a thick paste

~ pour in the tomato sauce and stir

~ add all of the peppers and let simmer for 10 minutes

~ add all veggies and cook for another 10-15 minutes

~ serve over rice

Perfection... Enjoy!

LIFE + ART: LACMA Museum VIP access part II- Fashioning Fashion

I only had two and a half hours to spend at the LACMA and I saved the best for last. Fashioning Fashion- European dress in detail 1700-1915 is a beautifully curated display of 18th-early 20th century dress in relation to textiles, silhouettes, and politics. Here are (many) highlights from the exhibit. I had a hard time narrowing it down :)

The Fashioning Fashion exhibit ends soon on February 2nd. Please make it a point to take it in.

LIFE + ART: LACMA Museum's VIP access part 1- The Olmecs

The LACMA Museum (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) graciously sent me a pair of VIP tickets to view their latest exhibitions and visit the new Resnick Pavillion. I finally carved out the time to visit and what a great way to start the year.

"OLMEC- Colossal Masterworks of Ancient Mexico"

There are varying opinions on the true origins of the Olmec People. Many (including myself) believe evidence which points to fact that the Olmec's are of African descent. What cannot be argued is the majestic abilities the Olmec people possessed to create figures and true works of art with pure man power. Seeing it up close is jaw-dropping.

Happy 1.1.11

Pure Energy. Genuine actions. Unimaginable joy. Clear mind and spirit. These are the guidelines for this year. Overall I'm going to enjoy living and clear space for the amazing possibilities the universe has planned. What I will not do is procrastinate, self-destruct, force energies or relationships, or give in to self-pity.... What's the point?



For 2011 I'll be using camille-yvette.com to express who I am, not only as a wardrobe stylist but as the person I truly am, the things I love and the things that inspire me. Some are related to fashion, art & culture and some are not...

It's a small world: Willow Smith's knock off and my favorite Mother of London design

Following the AMA's, I checked out the Red Carpet pickings of some of our fave celeb attendees. I gasped when I saw the lovely little Ms. Willow Smith in a bright bondage-inspired one-sleeve piece worn over a Charcoal gray harem jumpsuit with slouchy Black boots. I immediately recognized the DESIGN and only thought how surprised I was that the Smith's allowed Willow to don a piece from the very adult, very S & M-influenced label Mother of London out of LA.

The next day, drama had unfolded. It was revealed that the Yellow piece did not belong to Mother of London but, in fact, had been knocked off! Truthfully, in 2010, it's not much of a big deal for a little girl to wear something 'risque'. The real issue here is that a stylist had the piece knocked off and thought he/she could get away with it... thoughts?

So why do I care so much? The design in question is one of my favorites from Mother of London and I, in fact, used a Light Pink version of this very design in one of my editorials published in C-Heads Magazine over 2 years ago! (see photo above)

After looking at this Lt. Pink version you can see that it can be worn in a tasteful, fun, and feminine matter. So why wouldn't the stylist commission the original designer to make this piece? And maybe in a less offensive color. This would have solved both of my problems with this situation...

Just my opinion.

LIFE: B. Scott for Obvious Magazine

Last week I had the ABSOLUTE pleasure of styling multi-media maven B. Scott for Obvious Magazine.  When I say B. Scott is an all around wonderful person and a pleasure to be around I really mean it.  We had a great time and he is a natural born talent.  The harsh conditions we faced in the ULTRA-windy desert was no match for B. Scott's fierceness and dedication to bringing it.  Here a "teaser" from Obvious Magazine for the upcoming issue.  I'll be sharing behind the scenes images sooner than later.
